About Me
My name is Sarissa Rodriguez and I am currently a senior at The Academies of South Mountain. I've been in the dance program all four years and currently am at company level. Previous to dancing at South I was one of the original dancers at Evolve Dance and Fitness, a studio located on the south side of Phoenix which opened in 2014. Evolve has been a major driving force in my life molding me into the dancer I am today and encouraging me to always want dance in my life! I've spent countless long days and nights in the studio training, crying, and laughing. I have learned many lessons through dance, but a major one is that being a dancer is not for the weak. It's not always just pretty costumes and makeup but a physically demanding sport. I myself have experienced a dance injury that could have been career ending which is a dancer's worst nightmare. This has inspired me to pursue a career in athletic training. I will be attending Grand Canyon University in the fall for my Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Performance. I plan to continue my education and get my masters for athletic training. I hope with this career path I will one day be able to specialize in dance medicine aiding dancers to reach their full potential.
